The Japanese Cultural Centre is home base for several user groups. Currently, the following groups or organizations call the cultural centre their home.
Winnipeg Budokai Shotokan Karate
Sensei: Clive Hinds 空手家
Karate is a martial art using punching, kicking, knee and elbow strikes, and open-handed techniques such as knife-hands and may include grappling, locks, restraints, throws, and vital point strikes. Come and try their FREE class anytime! Available Mondays & Wednesdays 5:30pm – 7pm (all belt levels) and Fridays 5:30 – 7pm (brown & black belts only)

Manitoba Kendo Club
Manitoba Karaoke Club
This singing group meets every two weeks (usually on Friday evenings) using its own specialized karaoke equipment, you’ll sing the songs you like. It’s a great way to build poise and meet new people. Anyone can join so why not drop in (phone the Centre for the next meeting date).
Hinode Taiko
This group has been drumming out of the Centre since we opened in 1987. Hinode Taiko’s goal is to learn the art of taiko, to promote taiko through public performances, and to instruct those interested in the art of Japanese drumming. Hinode Taiko Inc. includes the performing group and the recreational group (Genki Daiko).
